An examination fee must be paid at the time services are rendered; an examination fee will be paid each time a pet is brought into the vet here and an examination fee will be charged for each pet.
Examination: $30.00
Nail trim: $5.50 for cats, $10.00 for dogs
Fecal screening: $40.00
A fecal screening will check dogs and cats for internal parasites and giardia.
Rabies Vaccination (Not given until 3 months PSOS time or older): $20.00
Common Dewormer for dogs and cats: $5.00
Dog Specific Vaccinations and Tests
Heartworm tests (not done until 7 months PSOS time or older): $45.50
Heartworm disease is a heart that is infected with heart worms that are spread by infected mosquito saliva. Although cats can get heart worms, they handle it much differently than dogs, so for the sake of PSOS, this blood test will only be offered to our canine friends. This test is done yearly.
Canine Distemper Vaccination: $25
Dogs receive a set of 3-4 distemper boosters starting preferably at 6 weeks of age. The first vaccination will have the distemper, parvo, corona, adenovirus type I and II, and parainfluenza. Every booster thereafter will have all but the corona virus in it. This vaccine is given yearly after the puppy boosters are finished.
Bordetella (kennel cough) Vaccination: $30.00
This vaccine is good for 1 year and does not need to be boostered as a puppy as it is given orally. The Bordetella vaccine is usually required if your dog is being boarded, going to a dog park, or going to a groomer.
Leptospirosis Vaccination: $35.00
This vaccine is given to puppies as early as 8 weeks old. Upon the first time getting this vaccination, there needs to be a booster in 2-3 weeks upon receiving the first ever. Every booster thereafter is good for 1 year. Leptospirosis is bacteria that is spread through the urine of infected wildlife. Get this vaccine if your dog goes out in the woods a lot, camping, or is around marshy areas often.
Parvo test: $50.50
The Parvo virus is a virus that attacks the gastrointestinal tract of dogs and proves to be fatal often, especially without proper medical attention. Bloody vomiting and diarrhea and anorexia are common symptoms of the Parvo virus.
Cat Specific Vaccinations and Tests
Feline Distemper Vaccination: $25.00
Cats receive a set of 3-4 feline distemper vaccines starting at preferably 6 weeks of age. The vaccine will protect the cat against feline panleukopenia, calicivirus, and rhinotracheitis. This vaccine is given yearly after kitten boosters.
Feline Leukemia and AIDS test (FIV/FELV): $45.00
This is a blood test to test cats for both FELV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline AIDS). All outdoor cats are at high risk.
All medications to go home are a flat rate of $20.00 per type of medication. All medications administered to the pet at the vet are $15.50 per medication type. Any other services not listed here will be on a case by case basis.
